the solution

The SalivIQ™ Strep A advantage

Accurate

100% sensitive and 100% specific against throat culture in clinical validation, so a follow-up culture is no longer necessary.

Fast

Results in as little as 22 minutes, inside the same visit, so treatment can begin before the patient leaves.

Preferred

Saliva was the most preferred sample type in a 2,100-person global survey, and parents preferred it for their children.

Simple

No specialized training required. Go from saliva to result in two steps on compact next-generation qPCR equipment.

why we built it

There had to be a better way

We know how uncomfortable strep testing is, and we have seen how distressing it is for children to have a sore throat swabbed. Rapid strep tests have been in use for over 40 years and are notorious for false negatives. So we built a saliva protocol on next-generation qPCR that is quick, inexpensive, and precise.

Throat swab, or saliva

Today’s standard

SalivIQ™ Strep A

No swab. No gagging.

Children refuse throat swabs. A saliva sample takes seconds and needs no cooperation.

Validated against the diagnostic standard

102 saliva samples were collected at the James Madison University Health Center and run through the SalivIQ™ Strep A protocol. Measured against throat culture, the current diagnostic standard, every result agreed.

How does SalivIQ™ Strep A work?

A patient provides a small saliva sample. The sample runs on next-generation quantitative PCR, which detects the DNA of group A Streptococcus, the bacteria that causes strep throat. There is no throat swab at any stage.
